This painting inhabits the tipping point between grace and collapse — the delicate threshold where composure begins to fracture.
Before committing to art full time, I worked as a Power Engineer in the oil and gas industry — an intensely male-dominated, demanding environment that left little space for creativity. I was capable, respected, and even found satisfaction in the work, yet I carried a persistent sense of displacement.
Simultaneously, I felt like an outsider in the art world — searching for my voice, experimenting endlessly, producing as much as I could, yet never fully granting myself permission to belong. My engineering career had shaped my sense of worth and structure so profoundly that releasing it felt like erasing a part of myself.
The friction between resilience and vulnerability — between control and surrender — is what this painting carries.
It took time to claim space in the creative world. To recognize that I was not an imposter, not pretending, but evolving.
This work captures that suspended moment of becoming — not the fall, not the arrival, but the in-between. The instant where identity fractures and reforms, and where duality is not a weakness, but a necessary passage toward integration.
