This painting reflects the different versions of myself that I gradually left behind as I moved from a familiar life in Canada into the unknown territory of Mexico. Each figure represents a moment of transformation—states of being that emerged, dissolved, and reshaped me along the journey.

I created this work during a period of profound rediscovery, as I was redefining myself as a woman within a new cultural and emotional landscape. I was alone and afraid, yet at the same time deeply attentive to the subtle beauty revealed through the process of displacement and change. The body appears as a shifting territory, marked by memory, vulnerability, and resilience—an inner map shaped by what is left behind and by what begins to take form.

This work speaks to the experience of inhabiting transition: that space between roots and horizons where identity is no longer fixed and is constantly becoming. It is within this suspended state that I found both fragility and strength, allowing the journey itself to become a place of meaning.

Esta pintura refleja las distintas versiones de mí que fui dejando atrás de manera gradual al transitar de una vida familiar en Canadá hacia el territorio desconocido de México. Cada figura representa un momento de transformación: estados del ser que surgieron, se disolvieron y me reconfiguraron a lo largo del camino.

Creé esta obra durante un periodo de profundo redescubriento, mientras me redefinía como mujer dentro de un nuevo paisaje cultural y emocional. Estaba sola y tenía miedo, pero al mismo tiempo permanecía profundamente atenta a la belleza sutil que se revelaba a través del proceso de desplazamiento y cambio. El cuerpo aparece como un territorio en movimiento, marcado por la memoria, la vulnerabilidad y la resiliencia: un mapa interno moldeado por aquello que se deja atrás y por lo que comienza a tomar forma.

Esta obra habla de la experiencia de habitar la transición: ese espacio entre raíces y horizontes donde la identidad deja de ser fija y se encuentra en constante devenir. Es en este estado suspendido donde encontré tanto fragilidad como fortaleza, permitiendo que el propio trayecto se convierta en un lugar de significado.
